How a giveaway runs

Set it up on the dashboard or with /giveaway start. The bot posts it within a few seconds and keeps the entry count up to date.

  1. Set it up

    Prize, channel, how long and how many winners. See the message as you type.

  2. Members enter

    One button. Anyone who can't enter is told exactly why.

  3. It ends

    Winners are drawn from the locked-in code and pinged in the channel.

  4. Winners claim

    A Claim button, and a private claim ticket if you want one.

  5. Prize given

    Staff press Prize given. Every step lands in your staff log.

The fair draw

A draw nobody can rig.

When a giveaway starts, the bot makes a secret code and shows the start of its fingerprint on the message. It can't change after that. When it ends, the winners come from that code and the list of entries.

  • The host can't choose. The code was fixed before anyone entered.
  • Anyone can check. How were the winners picked? shows the code and its fingerprints.
  • The odds are only entries. Each person's chance depends on how many entries they had.

Questions hosts ask

Can staff pick the winners themselves?

No. Winners come from a code locked in before anyone entered. A reroll picks someone who hasn't won it yet, the same way.

How do I stop people entering with extra accounts?

Use Only members who were here when it started, plus an account age or days-in-the-server rule.

What if a winner never claims?

With a time to claim (Premium), 1DDrop can pick a new winner automatically, or ask your staff first in the staff log.

Does 1D3R hand out the prizes?

No. 1DDrop announces the winners; your staff hand out the prizes.

Can I run a giveaway from Discord?

Yes: /giveaway start with a prize, how long and how many winners. Staff with Manage Server, and any Giveaway hosts roles you add, can use it.
